Wade Mattot wins inagural Mouth Marketing Northern Late Model Race
The Delaware 150 got underway at Delaware speedway with Robert Maynard and J.R. Franklin taking the green flag. The first 46 laps of racing action were hot and heavy all over the track, as lap 47 clicked off, D.J. Turner spins administrator Aaron Maynard, as Maynard began to come to a stop Vince Miller with brakes locked up and all had no were to go and slammed into Maynard to bring out caution #1. Maynard and Miller were both able to continue with respectable top 20 finish’s for both a top 10 for Maynard.
Green flag racing resumed and just a few laps later on lap 57 eventual race winner Wade Matott punts Brad Macnaughton coming off the corner, as Macnaughton began to spin down the track other cars take evasive action, and the 18 would slam the inside retaining wall hard which would end his day. Macnaughton was taken to a local hospital but was later released with only bruised ribs.
Caution flag number 3 flew on lap 76 when Shawn Sicard shuts down coming off of turn 4 and does everything in his power to get out of the way but unfortunately 4 other cars had no were to go and slam into the back of Sicard ending there night on the wrecker.
The green flag would wave once again and on lap 130 Wade Mattot would take over the lead with a bump and run on the 16 of McClintock and never look back as he goes on to win the inagural Mouth Marketing Northern Late Model Nationals Delaware 150.
In the trailer after the race fellow racers complained that aggressive driving had taken place by Wade Mattot, so promotor Aaron Maynard and race director Ted Grow took a long look at the video tape and decided that the driving by Mattot was aggressive however the win was still awarded to Mattot, but the driver was placed on probation for the next 3 weeks.
After the race Macnaughton had a few words for Mattot saying “if HE comes near me again and touches me he will be put in the wall.”
